The lottery for the Fall studios and the year long Research studios was held yesterday (friday). It was the first time I've ever gone through a process like that, which was made all the more interesting since I got to be an active participant in the logistics of it since I'm one of two student reps for my program.
In the end, it turned out pretty well for everyone - just about everyone got their first or second choice for both. I ended up with my first two choices for both - Greg Lynn for the Research Studio and David Erdman for the Fall Options Studio (which will actually be a further investigation into minimal surfaces via a competition for a building in Korea (and best of all will include a one week trip to Istanbul to study minimal surfaces from a historical perspective)).
So it's shaping up to be a very demanding quarter, but that's why I came back. So here's this fall's slate:
Research Studio (Greg Lynn) 2 cr
Options Studio (David Erdman) 6 cr
Technology Seminar (Jason Payne) 3 cr
Theory Seminar (Michael Speaks) 3 cr
Progamming Computer Apps (Liggett) 3 cr (may drop this one, as it's a bit so so).
So keep an eye on the posts here as they will surely contain some very interesting work over the coming months.
